Mind over matter…
I’ll be honest; my daily walks around the neighborhood are only partially about exercise. What I’m really doing is counting the For Sale signs in the neighborhood. We started out with 5 houses for sale, and recently I’ve started seeing moving vans and excited people in front of these houses. Now we are the only house left. (Sigh). I’m hoping that means we’ve just priced too high or that the person/people who are going to fall madly in love with my house just haven’t visited yet, but I’m beginning to get a bit discouraged. We haven’t had any showings in weeks now.
Aside from the obvious–no further interest in our house– it means I’ve started to slack on the cleaning. It is no longer pristine. Sure, if someone called for a showing (it’s by appointment only, thank goodness!) it would be ready to go with little to no grunt work– and if my mother suddenly appeared on my doorstep I wouldn’t be mortally embarrassed to invite her in– but I’ve gotten a little lazy. It seems silly to expend that much effort if no one is going to notice… and if we’re all going to mess it up again.
Having said that, I know this place will sell within the month. I am willing all prospective buyers to realize that the house of their dreams is right over here! :- )
