Maybe I don’t have such a black thumb after all?
I HAVE VEGETABLES! I cannot believe it! Maybe I don’t have a black thumb after all.
About a month ago I planted carrots, peas, lettuce, jalapeno peppers, radishes, watermelon, cucumbers, cantaloupe and strawberries. All but the strawberries have made an appearance.
I get special satisfaction over these leafy greens poking their heads up because I planted them all with Sweets. She helped pour the soil into the containers, poke little holes for the seeds, and strategically place the seeds in the containers. (Which really meant that all the seeds ended up on one end, but she was having so much fun. Who cares?)
Maybe she’s the reason I didn’t kill them. Well, that and Mother Nature has really been helping out a lot. All this rain means I don’t have to water much.
It will be another month or two before we can eat our veggies, but in the meantime, I love going out every few days to see how much they’ve grown. And I love seeing how excited Sweets gets each time they get a little taller.

It’s a great feeling, huh? I love looking at my tomatoes and watching them get bigger. I have a huge head of lettuce that I get a big kick out of too.
We did this too - I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep at least some of our veggies alive!!
