Bed Time
Sweets has developed this nasty habit of popping out of bed at night. Thankfully, it’s not in the middle of the night, but it does happen at least 3-4 times (sometimes more) after we’ve tucked her in. She’ll come find us and say, dramatically:
“I can’t sleep. My eyes keep popping open.”
To which I reply, “That’s because you’re standing up!”
I’ve suggested she tell herself a story to lull herself to sleep, but she insists that she won’t be able to concentrate on it. (My point exactly). I’ve suggested she do something boring like do math. She’s limited in that respect, but so am I, and I find that math puts me to sleep in the blink of an eye. We’ve already read a stack of books by that time, so sometimes she ends up “reading” to herself.
My first thought is that I’m not tiring her out enough. My second is that she is stubborn. I can’t very well just let her stay up till 10 or 11pm every night. She’s only 4 years old! Does anyone have any suggestions?
